Water, Fire and Mold Repair in Seaside, CA

Ed's Construction Services works throughout Seaside and the rest of the Monterey Peninsula, from Del Monte Heights and Ord Terrace up through Seaside Highlands and Villa del Monte. Everardo Mendoza runs the jobs and answers the phone himself, so when you call about a burst pipe or a flooded crawl space, you're talking to the person who'll be standing in your house. We handle the water, fire and mold cleanup and the rebuild that comes after — one California contractor's licence covering both ends of the job.

What makes homes in Seaside different

A lot of Seaside's housing stock came up quick and affordable in the postwar years, tied to Fort Ord, and neighborhoods like Ord Grove and Ord Terrace still carry that era's construction — modest single-story homes, some with additions layered on over the decades. Newer pockets like Seaside Highlands and the CSU Monterey Bay side sit on the old base land, closer to the dunes and sandier ground.

What ties all of it together is where Seaside sits: right on the bay, under the marine layer, breathing salt air off the water at Fort Ord Dunes State Park. That damp doesn't dry out the way inland air does. Crawl spaces stay cool and humid, and given how many homes here are built over crawl spaces rather than basements, that's usually where mold gets its start — under the floor, out of sight, until you smell it in the hallway or a floor starts to feel soft. Salt air is hard on fasteners, flashing and the underside of decks too, so a leak that would be minor a few miles inland can quietly rot framing here.

Then there's the winter. When the atmospheric-river storms line up off the Pacific, Seaside's older stormwater setup and hillside streets between Upper Seaside and Noche Buena move a lot of water fast, and the low ground near Laguna Grande Park holds it. A clogged gutter or a slab that sits low can put an inch of water through a house in an afternoon. We plan the drying around Seaside's reality — coastal humidity that fights you the whole way, not the dry heat some drying playbooks assume.

Local, reliable, and nearby

We're based in Watsonville, up the coast at the head of the Monterey Bay, and Seaside is a straightforward run down Highway 1 for us — close enough that getting a crew out to Ord Grove or the Seaside Highlands isn't a stretch. Because the same licence covers the mitigation and the reconstruction, you're not drying the house with one company and then hunting for a builder to close the walls back up; we do both, so nothing falls through the crack between them.

Everardo will walk your place with you, tell you plainly what he sees and what it'll take, and keep you in the loop as the work moves. If you're dealing with water, fire or mold anywhere in the 93955 — near Oldemeyer Center, up by Seaside High, or out toward CSU Monterey Bay — call (831) 247-3672 and let's take a look.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you cover Seaside, or just Watsonville? It's about 30 minutes down Highway 1.

Seaside's well within the Monterey Bay area we cover. Everardo runs the jobs and answers the phone himself at (831) 247-3672, so call and we'll talk through what's going on and when we can get someone out to look.

Our Del Monte-area place has a crawl space that stays damp from the marine layer. Is that a job you handle?

Yes. Crawl spaces along the coast here trap the marine-layer damp and don't dry out on their own, and that's where you get rot in the framing and mold underneath the floor. We handle the drying and moisture side and the waterproofing to keep it from coming back — no basements to worry about in this part of the coast, it's almost always the crawl space.

After the water's dried out, do we need a separate contractor to rebuild, and who pulls the Seaside permit?

No second builder. The same California contractor's licence covers the mitigation and the reconstruction, so once the drying equipment comes out we stay on to rebuild — no handoff. Anything structural in Seaside goes through the city's building department for permits, and we handle that as part of the job.

The salt air out here has chewed up our stucco and the trim. Can you deal with that when you rebuild?

Salt air and the wind-driven winter rain are hard on stucco and on exterior wood, and once water's gotten behind either one you've usually got damage past the surface. When we rebuild we patch back to match — stucco and redwood or similar — and detail it to stand up to the damp and salt rather than just closing the wall up.
